About me ...

I most recently produced and co-adapted Disney’s The Happiest Millionaire 50th Anniversary Celebration at Joe’s Pub, to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. I consider myself extraordinarily lucky, and grateful, to have  worked with Disney and a cast of Hollywood and Broadway legends, including Oscar nominee for Victor/Victoria and Golden Globe winner Lesley Ann Warren, Brooke Shields, Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins, 5-time Tony Award nominee Dana Ivey, 2-time Tony Award nominee Brad Oscar, Joyce Bulifant of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and, incredibly talented Broadway and television up-and-comers, Nicholas Barasch and Luca Padovan.

Having spent the previous two decades as a musical theatre performer, I last toured nationally as Freddy Benson in the Tony Award winning musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and last appeared, Off-Broadway, in Zina Goldrich and Marcy Heisler's Dear Edwina, produced by the incomparable Daryl Roth. Shortly thereafter, I turned to writing and producing my own work.

My first foray into producing began out of necessity. In 2012, I desperately needed to make impactful changes to my health and personal life so I committed to writing and producing a one man show that would hold me accountable for the promises I made to myself. Over the two years that followed, I wrote, produced, rehearsed, filmed and edited, while making healthier obligations that would culminate in extraordinary positive self discovery, plus the completion of a full marathon. Inspired by the reality bending rules of Doctor Who (including live time travel) and the music of David Bowie, Dougie Who: A Live Rock N' Roll Adventure Through Time and Space debuted in the fall of 2014. I succeeded in re-writing my life by pushing myself to actively participate in it, and I have been excited to continue doing so ever since.

Currently, I have several original writing projects in the works, including "Watcher in the Woods: A New Musical", based on the chilling 1976 novel by Florence Engel Randall, two allegorical illustrated story books, and a queer era-twisting feature film.

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, my long term goal as a writer and producer is to elevate more positive and aspirational depictions of LGBTQ people to the forefront of our storytelling. As I search for and dream of exciting new ways to entertain and creatively tell all manner of tales, I hope to always play my small part in helping LGBTQIA+ youth feel they live in a world where they belong.

    Thank you for visiting! :)

                                  - D.
